Purdy Family | Calw
One of my favorite parts of being a photographer is getting to tell a family’s story over the years. This sweet family is one I’ve had the honor of working with multiple times—starting with newborn photos of their youngest, continuing with sessions in Virginia, and now, here in Germany. Watching their children grow and capturing each new season of life has been such a gift.
For this session, we explored the charming town of Calw, Germany, with its half-timbered houses, colorful flowers, and the incredible backdrop of historic ruins. It’s the perfect blend of old-world charm and fairytale scenery, and it gave us so many opportunities to capture both the playful and tender moments this family shares so naturally.
Their middle daughter kept us all laughing—she was such a ham throughout the session and made sure every photo had a little extra sparkle of personality. The joy all of their lovely daughters brought was contagious, and their energy really shines through in these images. I love that these photos highlight not just how this family looks, but who they are: kind, connected, and full of life.
As always, our time together felt less like a photo session and more like spending an afternoon with friends. This family’s warmth and love for each other are so easy to see, and I’m grateful they’ve trusted me to capture their story across the miles and years.
Whether it’s snuggled together in front of castle ruins, laughing in the cobblestone streets, or running hand-in-hand across a bridge lined with flowers, these photos are a reminder that the best portraits are the ones that capture real connection.
